Yesterday, I pitched the idea of EFREN at the #AIHorizonsPH. Efren, from “a friend” (yes, it’s that Superman joke), aims to assess diabetes distress.
In the context of the 7As approach to identify and support persons with diabetes distress, EFREN can hopefully take over the third A. But is that something that both physicians and persons with diabetes will agree with? I’m not sure.
I think that we should demonstrate effectiveness for narrow use cases first before going to a more broad adoption of chatbots in health care. These are patient-facing and as we always say, first do no harm.
So for tonight’s #HealthXPH tweet chat, I want to ask the community what they think.
T1. In general, what role(s) do you think can chatbots have in healthcare?
T2. If you’re a patient, would you mind having a chatbot as part of your healthcare team? Why or why not? For the health professionals, what work would you consider “offloading” to a chatbot? Why?
T3. What safety concerns would you have for using chatbots in healthcare?
See you later 26 Oct, 9 pm Manila time.
